A laborer named Bachchu Sheikh (38) died due to electrocution in Kalia, Narail. The deceased Bachchu Sheikh is the son of deceased Saheb Sheikh of Mirzapur village of Kalia municipality. The incident took place on Tuesday (March 26) in the morning at Nawagram of the upazila.
At this time, another worker named Mahabur Sheikh (40) was injured. He is the son of late Sona Sheikh of Bendarchar village of the same municipality.
According to police and local sources, Bachchu and Mahabur Sheikh were working as masons in Nazeer Fakir's house in Nawagram. In the morning, while lifting the rod on the roof, they accidentally got electrocuted when the rod got caught in the electric wire and became seriously ill.
The locals rescued them and took them to the Kalia Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared Bachchu Sheikh dead. The injured Mahabur Sheikh Kalia is under treatment at Upazila Health Complex.
Kalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandkar Shamim Uddin confirmed the death and said that the accident was initially believed to have occurred due to carelessness. No one complained about this. The body has been handed over to the family.
