10 Best SNF Games on 2024 NFL Schedule This Year

Sunday Night Football on NBC has put together a lineup of exciting primetime games for the 2024 season. The lineup features teams that are expected to be contenders this year, going up against other great teams. Sunday Night Football additionally includes two Thursday games, which are considered part of the “Sunday Night Football” show.

Perhaps no bigger testament to last season is the Houston Texans, who earned an onslaught of primetime games after going to the second round of the playoffs behind quarterback phenom C.J. Stroud.

Here are the top 10 games of the slate to look forward to.

10. Week 12: Eagles at Rams

The Eagles finished the 2023 season in disappointing fashion, but have all the tools along with the addition of Saquon Barkley to become a contender once again.

Unlike the Eagles, the Rams came on strong at the end of last season to make a playoff push before they were eliminated by the Lions.

If these two teams live up to their potential this season, this will be a game to circle on the calender.

9. Week 14: Chargers at Chiefs

This season’s slate of SNF does not feature many matchups between divisional opponents, with the Chargers heading to Arrowhead Stadium in December as one of the exceptions.

The excitement of this game will depend on how the Chargers look this season after going 5-12 a year ago, but the return of Jim Harbaugh to SNF is exciting nonetheless.

It’s also hard to turn down watching a matchup between quarterbacks Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes, who have combined for several intriguing games in recent seasons.

8. Week 2: Bears at Texans

Two young quarterbacks will take the field during primetime Week 2 as Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears face C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans. Stroud heads into the game as the established player, coming off a phenomenal 2023 rookie season in which he brought the Texans to the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, is expected to bring the same impact to the Bears that Stroud did to the Texans a season ago. If he starts off hot, this could prove to be one of the best games of the season.

7. Week 13: Dolphins at Packers

This game technically takes place on a Thursday, capping off what looks to be an exciting day of Thanksgiving football. This game also pits two coaches that coached together at Washington against each other. Mike McDaniel’s Dolphins boast one of the most explosive and speedy offenses in the NFL while Matt LaFleur’s Packers hold one of the most promising young quarterbacks in Jordan Love.

Both teams will be looking to fight for division titles and a playoff berth at this time of year, as well as John Madden’s famous turducken. The stakes should be high.

6. Week 4: Bills at Ravens

Not only does this game showcase two of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, but two of the NFL’s best rushing quarterbacks in Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Few quarterbacks help their team with their legs more than Allen and Jackson.

This game also features two perennial contenders in the AFC. Winning this game could prove to be a difference in seeding at the end of the season.

5. Week 10: Lions at Texans

Two of the NFL’s best feel-good stories and teams from a season ago will battle for another win. When these two teams last played in 2020, they combined for nine wins on the season. Last season, they combined for over double that mark with 22 wins.

4. Week 1: Rams at Lions

The Sunday Night Football slate gets off to a hot start with the Lions and Rams facing off in a rematch of last season’s wildcard playoff game. The Lions-Rams wildcard showdown was a tightly-fought battle which culminated in the Lions escaping with a one-point win over the Rams. The game is also full of compelling storylines, as quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff go up against their former teammates once again.

3. Week 16: Texans at Chiefs

There are few tougher tests in the NFL than beating Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, one of the rowdiest sports venues on the globe, but C.J. Stroud and the Texans could be up to the test. The upstart Texans were the Cinderella team of 2023, winning the division behind Stroud’s outstanding rookie season.

The Texans can prove they truly are legit threats if they can overtake Mahomes in a late-season game before the playoffs in Stroud’s second season, a feat Joe Burrow pulled off in 2021 when he led the Bengals to the Super Bowl that season.

2. Week 13: 49ers at Bills

Thanksgiving weekend concludes with a showdown between two teams that only face off once every four years. The 49ers and Bills last played in 2020, but Jimmy Garoppolo was injured and the game did not turn out to be competitive.

The 49ers have the edge in talent going into this game, but will they be able to play like themselves in potentially freezing temperatures in December at Buffalo?

1. Week 1: Chiefs at Ravens

Coming off their second consecutive Super Bowl win, the Kansas City Chiefs will open the season at home against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. This matchup features a rematch of the AFC Championship Game, a duel between the last two NFL MVP winners, and the debut of running back Derrick Henry as a Raven all on primetime.

The Chiefs have gotten the better of the Ravens in the five games since Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson became their teams’ respective starters in 2018, but four of the five games finished as one-score games.
