The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking the information of 38 officials-employees of the Bangladesh Embassy in 10 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, who have been accused of corruption.

An official of the commission said that this letter was sent from the ACC's integrated district office Dhaka-1 on Tuesday (September 3).

The letter mentions allegations of irregularities and corruption against ambassadors, chancellery chiefs or chief consular officers, secretaries of ministries and other officials working in Bangladeshi embassies or high commissions appointed in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China, Dubai, Italy, Switzerland and the Philippines. Investigation is ongoing.

These officers have been requested to furnish the present place of work, designation, permanent address and present address to the ACC by September 10.

In addition, the ACC has sought information about the previous duty station of these officers, the branch in which they served and their rank in the financial year 2016-17.
