149 loads of gold disappeared from the locker of Islami Bank in Chittagong

There is panic among customers after 149 pieces of gold ornaments disappeared from the locker of a customer of Chawkbazar branch of Islami Bank in Chittagong.

From Sunday (June 2) morning, it was seen that the branch of Islami Bank in Chawkbazar area of ​​the city, normal transactions started there from 10 am, but after 10 am, the crowd of locker customers increased. One after another customers come and want to check their lockers and gold or other important items in the lockers. Following the formality of the bank, one by one customers enter the locker room and come out after opening the locker and checking everything.

A locker customer of Islami Bank, who did not want to be named, told RisingBD, “We are really scared. In the morning, I rushed to the bank after hearing the news of the disappearance of a large amount of gold ornaments from the lockers of this branch. I also keep valuable gold and other important things in this locker. After checking, my things were found in the locker, but our panic did not end. We are really scared.

Another female customer told RisingBD that we keep our gold jewelery in the bank locker and spend money thinking that the bank locker is safe. But if our things disappear from here then where else can we go.

Islami Bank Chowkbazar branch manager Shafiqul Mawla admitted the fear of customers and the crowd of locker customers and said that we have formed a three-member investigation committee to look into the entire incident. The committee will submit its report very soon. Apart from this, the incident of disappearance of 149 gold ornaments from the locker was reported to the city's Chawkbazar police station. Police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, Rokeya Bari, a resident of BTI Beverly Hills, Chatteshwari Road, Chittagong City, who lost 149 gold from her locker, said that the bank authorities have not yet given any answer as to how such a large amount of gold disappeared from my locker. We are going to take legal action in this regard.
