15-member squad announced for T20 World Cup

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. Team Tigers will board the World Cup plane with Taskin Ahmed despite the injury concerns.

Apart from this, the board has faith in Liton Das despite being off-form in recent times. However, pace bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin was not kept in the squad after coming back to the team for the Zimbabwe series in the light of the BPL. Today (Tuesday) the selection committee of chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain announced the World Cup team in the press conference room of Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.

As usual, Nazmul Hossain Shanto will lead Bangladesh in the World Cup. Apart from this, Taskin Ahmed has been given the responsibility as vice captain. Speculations about the Bangladesh squad have been rife in the past few days, but there were no surprises in the announcement of the team.

Pacer Hasan Mahmud and batsman Afif Hossain will go with the team as reserves outside the 15-man squad for the World Cup. These two are also in the team for the three-match T20 series in the United States before the World Cup. If Taskin does not overcome the injury, Hasan will be seen in the World Cup. The matches against the hosts in Houston, USA are on 21st, 23rd and 25th May.

The T20 World Cup will begin on June 2 in the United States and the Caribbean Islands. However, Bangladesh team's World Cup mission will start from June 7. South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal are Bangladesh's opponents in Group of Death 'D'.
