16 kg gold found with passenger at Osmani airport


A passenger with 15 kg 910 grams of gold was detained at Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport. After searching his luggage, these golds were seized from the coffee machine kept inside.

The detained passenger Hossain Ahmad (20) is a resident of Goramarakandi village of Towakul Bazar area of ​​Goainghat upazila of Sylhet.

This information was given in a press conference at Osmani Airport around 2:30 on Wednesday (August 28).

Assistant Commissioner of Customs Asaduzzaman and director of the airport. Hafiz Uddin Ahmad said that these golds were seized from the passenger of the Bangladesh Biman flight (BG-252) which landed in Sylhet from Sharjah at 8 am.

It was informed in the press conference that the passenger evaded the employees of the customs intelligence department and crossed the green channel of the airport and went to the parking lot. Later, he was challenged and brought back to the Green Channel by officials of the Aviation Wing and National Intelligence Service (NSI) officers working at the airport. After searching there, 105 pieces of gold biscuits and 4 gold ring bars were found inside three coffee machines kept in his two luggages. The current market value of the seized gold will be approximately Tk 16 crore 30 lakh 91 thousand.

Airport Customs Assistant Commissioner Asaduzzaman said that the detained Hossain has been handed over to the police station. In this incident, airport aviation is preparing to file a case with the airport police station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
