16 lakh taka stolen from development workers, arrested 2

The robbers stole 16 and a half rupees from two development workers named Mamun (32) and Hiron (30) in Baufal of Patuakhali. On Tuesday (August 20), they were attacked in the Naomala and Dashpara border areas of the upazila. Police arrested two people in this incident.

Police and locals said that Mamun and Hiron were going to Baufal on a motorcycle from Patuakhali around noon. The robbers stopped their motorcycle when they reached the border area of ​​Naumala and Dashpara. They extorted 16.5 lakh rupees from two development workers. Later, police and army members arrested Prince (23) and Sohag (18) from Thakur Hat area of ​​Dasmina upazila. Their house is in Sombariyara Bazar area of ​​Baufal Sadar Union.

Govind Chandrapal, manager of Patuakhali Bikash, said that in the afternoon Hiron and Mamun were going on a motorcycle to distribute the money between Bikash agents after taking Tk 16.5 lakh from a bank in Patuakhali. On the way robbers attacked and took money from them. The robbers broke the deer's head when they tried to stop it.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baufal Police Station Shonit Kumar Gayen said that legal action is being taken against the arrested. Efforts are on to recover the stolen money.
