RAB-11 CPC-2 arrested 2 accused who were sentenced to death in the case of murder of Jubo League leader Jamal Uddin of Chouddagram, Comilla.
Mahmudul Hasan, company captain of RAB-11 CPC-2, gave this information in a press conference at the RAB office in Shaktala, Comilla city on Monday (May 13) morning.
The arrested accused are – Md. son of deceased Tajul Islam of Shillari area of Chauddagram upazila of Comilla district. Khandaker Mofizur Rahman (52) and the son of Nazir Ahmed of Alkara area of the same upazila. Rezaul Karim Bablu (42).
Mahmudul Hasan said, on the basis of secret information, with the help of information technology, we were able to arrest two fugitive convicts who were sentenced to death for the Jamal murder while they were escaping from Shimangacha area of Comilla suburb on Monday (May 13) night.
It should be noted that on January 8, 2016, Jamal Uddin, president of Chouddagram Alkara Union Jubo League, was on his way to Dhaka from home at 8:00 p.m. on the Padua road of Chouddagram on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The other accused, led by Ismail Hossain Bachchu, were shot and hacked to death. Zohra Akhter, the elder sister of Jamal, who was killed in this incident, filed a case against 23 people as the plaintiff.
Later, last Monday (May 13), after the trial of the case, the learned court sentenced 9 people including the main accused to death, life sentence to 9 people and also fined 50 thousand taka to each and acquitted 5 people.
Those sentenced to death in the case are – former chairman of Chauddagram Alkara Union. Ismail Hossain Bachchu, Salauddin, Abdur Rahman, Mofizur Rahman Khandkar, Ziauddin Shimul, Zahid Bin Shubo, Rezaul Karim Bablu of Alkra Union's Kulasar village. Riaz Uddin Miyaji, Mamata Amir Hossain.
