20 killed in Israeli attack in Gaza overnight


Israeli forces carried out airstrikes overnight on Jabalia camp in Gaza, controlled by the Palestinian independence group Hamas. Palestinian health officials confirmed the information on Monday (May 13).

They said the tank attack was carried out on Jabalia refugee camp, the largest of the eight camps in Gaza. Residents say that tank shells have hit the center of the camp. Many houses were destroyed in air raids.

A thick cloud of black smoke was seen rising from the Israeli border into the sky of northern Gaza on Sunday, according to the news agency Reuters.

According to the news agency Reuters report, black smoke from the explosion was seen rising from the northern part of Gaza.

It is also said in the news that Israeli tanks have entered the Jabalia camp after the overnight attack on Sunday. The refugee camp houses more than one lakh people.

The Israeli military, meanwhile, said its goal was to eliminate Hamas' efforts to rebuild military capabilities in Jabalia.
