2024 NFL Season Predictions: Team Records, Division Winners, Playoff Teams, and More

The 2024 NFL season is finally here.

After a wild offseason of big trades, contract holdouts, massive extensions, and quarterback movement, we are finally ready to play some football.

The Kansas City Chiefs enter the season looking to make history as the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. The other 31 teams have other plans, though.

Before each season, I’ve predicted each game on the schedule from Week 1 to Week 18, coming up with final team records and division winners. Here are my complete predictions for how each division will play out in the 2024 season, and which teams will make the playoffs.

NFC East Prediction

The NFC East will look very similar this season to last season. The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will compete for the top spot all year long, while the Washington Commanders and New York Giants attempt to avoid last place. In the end, it will be the Cowboys eking out a division win and avoiding a road playoff opener.

1. Dallas Cowboys: 12-5
2. Philadelphia Eagles: 11-6
3. Washington Commanders: 6-11
4. New York Giants: 5-12

NFC North Prediction

The NFC North will be one of the best and most competitive divisions in the NFL this season. The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions will build off their surprise postseason runs, while the Chicago Bears will enter the Caleb Williams era with a bang. Two NFC North teams will find themselves in the postseason for a second consecutive season.

1. Detroit Lions: 11-6
2. Green Bay Packers: 11-6
3. Chicago Bears: 9-8
4. Minnesota Vikings: 5-12

NFC South Prediction

On the other end of the spectrum is the NFC South, likely to be the worst division in the NFL this year. However, the Atlanta Falcons’ active offseason — including adding quarterback Kirk Cousins and new head coach Raheem Morris — make them the clear favorite to take the division from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

1. Atlanta Falcons: 10-7
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 8-9
3. New Orleans Saints: 7-10
4. Carolina Panthers: 4-13

NFC West Prediction

The NFC West has four playoff-caliber teams this year, as the Arizona Cardinals should take a big leap with a healthy Kyler Murray in 2024. Still, this division belongs to the San Francisco 49ers, who have bigger plans than just an NFC West title this season.

1. San Francisco 49ers: 12-5
2. Los Angeles Rams: 9-8
3. Arizona Cardinals: 9-8
4. Seattle Seahawks: 7-10

AFC East Prediction

The AFC East is going to be a bloodbath this season with three teams worthy of a playoff spot. Every divisional matchup between the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins will have massive playoff implications.

1. Miami Dolphins: 11-6
2. New York Jets: 10-7
3. Buffalo Bills: 10-7
4. New England Patriots: 3-14

AFC North Prediction

The AFC North also has four teams with playoff aspirations in 2024, but only two will make it. Every single divisional matchup will not only have major playoff implications — they’ll also feel like playoff games.

1. Baltimore Ravens: 11-6
2. Cincinnati Bengals: 10-7
3. Cleveland Browns: 9-8
4. Pittsburgh Steelers: 7-10

AFC South Prediction

The AFC South will only have one playoff team in 2024, as the Houston Texans continue to emerge as a powerhouse in the AFC. As for the rest of the teams — they’ll be fighting to get over .500.

1. Houston Texans: 11-6
2. Tennessee Titans: 8-9
3. Indianapolis Colts: 7-10
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: 7-10

AFC West Prediction

The Kansas City Chiefs will yet again run away with the AFC East this season. The Los Angeles Chargers will make improvements under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, but it won’t be enough to clinch a postseason berth in a loaded AFC.

2. Los Angeles Chargers: 9-8
3. Las Vegas Raiders: 6-11
4. Denver Broncos: 5-12
