261 luxury cars are being purchased for DC-UNOs

261 luxury cars are being purchased for District Commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs). It will cost the government 382 crore rupees. The government approved the proposal on Wednesday.

It is known that according to the demand letter of the Department of Vehicles sent to the Ministry of Finance through Public Administration, 61 vehicles will be purchased for the District Administrators. Each car purchase will cost 1 crore 45 lakh 84 thousand 500 taka. A total of 61 cars will cost 88 crore 96 lakh 54 thousand 500 taka.

On the other hand, 200 vehicles will be purchased for the use of Upazila Nirbahi officials. The price of each car is 1 crore 45 lakh 84 thousand 500 taka. It will cost 291 crore 69 lakh taka. It is proposed to buy these vehicles through the state-owned company Pragati Industries Limited.

Earlier, the Ministry of Public Administration had proposed to purchase 261 new jeeps for 61 DCs and 200 UNOs ahead of the 12th National Assembly elections. At that time, the government withdrew from this decision.

At that time the price of each 'Mitsubishi Pajero Sport QX' model was around Rs. It was decided to buy the cars through direct purchase method without tender at a cost of Tk 381 crore 58 lakh.
