Mulghar Union Council Chairman and Upazila Awami League General Secretary Sheikh Md abused the journalists in Rajbari for asking for information about the irregularity in rice distribution of VGF. Ohiduzzaman.
This happened at Mulghar Union Parishad on Monday (April 8) afternoon.
The journalists who were insulted are- Finance Secretary of Rajbari District Reports Club Imran Hossain Monim, District Representative of Machranga Television and Daily Bangladesh Newspaper, Atiyar Rahman, District Representative of Dainik Ganakanth, Club Office Editor and District Representative of Dainik Samay Paper Shahidul Islam.
At the same time, a video footage of this incident is heard and seen, UP Chairman Sheikh Md. on the balcony of Mulghar Union Parishad. Ohiduzzaman and his men attacked the journalists and started abusing them in unspeakable language. At one stage, Imran Hussain, representative of Machranga Television, threw Monim down from the balcony of the council.
Rajbari Press Club, District Press Club, District Reports Club, District Reports Unity and Bangladesh Mofswal ism Forum Rajbari District Branch expressed strong condemnation and protest in this incident.
During the incident, journalists were also attacked and a camera, a gold ring and cash were taken from them by Imran Homen Monim, District Representative of Machranga Television and said that he is preparing a case in this regard.
Mulghar Union Council Chairman and Upazila Awami League General Secretary Sheikh Md. Ohiduzzaman said, I spoke a little loudly to the journalists. However, I did not abuse or push in unspeakable language.
Notably, Mulghar Union Council Chairman and Upazila Awami League General Secretary Sheikh Md. Ohiduzzaman was previously temporarily dismissed on the charge of giving a certificate in favor of a pending case in the learned court. Besides, there are complaints of various irregularities including tree theft against him.
