44 policemen of various ranks were killed during the quota reform movement. These include 21 constables, 11 sub-inspectors (SIs), 7 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), 3 inspectors, one assistant town sub-inspector (ATSI) and one Naik.
On Sunday (August 18) afternoon, AIG (Media and PR) of Police Headquarters, Inamul Haque Sagar, gave this information.
He said that 44 policemen of various ranks were killed during the quota reform movement. Out of these 24 were killed on August 5, 14 were killed on August 4 and the remaining members were killed at various times.
AIG Inamul Haque Sagar also said that among the killed policemen are 14 from DMP, 15 from Enayetpur police station, two from Sonaimuri police station, two from Titas police station, one from Kachua police station, one from Baniachong police station, one from Dhaka SB, one from Narayanganj PBI, one from Tourist Police Headquarters, Comilla. One from Highway Police, one from Kasba Police Station, one from Khulna Metropolitan Police, one from Gazipur Metropolitan Police and two from Dhaka District.
Before the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, on August 5 and after the resignation, these policemen were killed in attacks, vandalism and arson in various police stations, outposts and police units of the country, said AIG Inamul Haque.
