47 students from Job nominated for Dean's Award

Forty-seven students have been nominated for the first ever Dean's Award in Jagannath University (JOB) in recognition of the highest results in Bachelor's (Honours). This award has been launched for the most meritorious students who have passed the four-year undergraduate final examination of 39 departments of seven faculties of the university.

On Tuesday, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Dean's Award Committee convener Professor Md. Shahjahan confirmed this information.

The dean of the science faculty said, “We initially worked to give it to the students of the last three academic years, but due to the delay in the results, we finalized the 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic years.” This time we have nominated 47 people according to the Dean's Award policy. Although one person from each category should receive this award.

He also said that the award is scheduled to be given during the ceremony on June 6. We have arranged a certificate and medal as an award for the students. Which will keep them motivated in their further education and work in the job market.

As per the policy, one student with the highest CGPA in graduation from each department under all the faculties of the university will be nominated for this award, which will be given to the regular students of the university. To be nominated for this award, a minimum CGPA of 3.75 is required in the final examination of the graduate. If more than one student obtains equal CGPA in the same department, the total marks obtained by them from first to eighth semester will be considered. If there is still a tie, the final candidate will be nominated after considering the result of SSC and HSC examination.

Apart from this, the student with the highest CGPA in each department cannot have retakes and re-admissions in any semester of the undergraduate class in order to be nominated for this award. No course can participate in quality improvement and supplementary examination. No 'F' grade may be carried in one or more courses in any semester examination. Apart from this, with 80% attendance in each semester, no financial, academic or disciplinary punishment shall be imposed during the undergraduate studies.

Considering these criteria, in the two academic years of the university 2016-17 and 2017-18, nine students from the Faculty of Arts, six students from the Faculty of Science, eight students from the Faculty of Business Education, seven students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, two students from the Faculty of Law, 13 students from the Faculty of Life and Science and Arts. This award will be given to two people from the faculty.

About Dean's Award University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. “We have finalized everything for the Dean's Award,” said Sadeka Halim. It will be given to the students after Eid in a grand ceremony with their parents. Also we are trying to bring a motivational speaker.
