49ers Defender Sends Message to Teammates on Aaron Rodgers: ‘He’ll Embarrass You’

One of the better games scheduled for the opening weekend in the NFL is the New York Jets traveling to face the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara. The game will be played on Monday night, Sept. 9 to kick off the Monday Night Football schedule.

Both teams will enter the year with Super Bowl aspirations, potentially creating an incredible environment for a game. The Jets will have quarterback Aaron Rodgers back on the field for the first time since he tore his Achilles in the opening game last season for New York.

Rodgers has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL over the years and even with the injury, he still makes defenses fear him. 49ers defender Leonard Floyd was the one who ended up injuring Rodgers last season and he will get a chance to face the veteran again.

He sent his teammates a message about not taking Rodgers for granted entering this opening game.

“Shoot, man, my scouting report is he’s a legendary quarterback and you have to come with your ‘A’ game, because he’s the type where he’ll embarrass you,” Floyd added. “If you give him some momentum, he’s going to carry that momentum for the whole game. You just have to be on your Ps and Qs, because he’ll score every time if you let him.”

San Francisco boasts one of the stronger teams in the NFL, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They have pass rushers all over the field but playing Rodgers is a different animal.

His ability to place passes right where his wide receiver wants the ball is something else and his killer attitude has separated him from others. Floyd knows Rodgers well from his time in Chicago where he had to play the future Hall of Famer when he was in Green Bay.

“I’ve done played a lot of football. In Chicago, sometimes we’d have Aaron as a first game,” said Floyd, a 2016 Bears first-round pick who indeed faced the Packers to open both the 2018 and ’19 seasons in prime time.

If the 49ers can apply pressure on Rodgers, it would likely make things easier for them. He is coming off a very bad injury and is 40 years old.

San Francisco lost in the Super Bowl last year so they will be looking for some redemption. There is no better way to send a message to the rest of the NFL than by beating the Jets in primetime to kick off the new season.
