49ers’ Kyle Shanahan Confirms Horrible Fred Warner News

The San Francisco 49ers fell to 4-2 on the year, as they lost 30-19 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a battle of first place teams in the NFC. During the game, All-pro linebacker Fred Warner suffered a serious injury when trying to make a tackles on Buccaneers running back Rachaad White.

He had his ankle get stuck under teammate Ji’Ayir Brown. As soon as the injury happened, Buccaneers players Tristan Wirfs and Tez Johnson immediately hollered for trainers, with Johnson putting his head in his hands after the injury happened.

After the game, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed with reporters that Warner will need surgery on a dislocated and broken ankle and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Injuries are nothing new for the 49ers, as no team in the NFL has had to deal with injuries like them the past few seasons. Already out on Sunday for the team was Brock Purdy, George Kittle, Nick Bosa and Brandon Aiyuk to just name a few.

While the 49ers have done a great job of managing all of those injuries, Warner is arguably the team’s most important players.Since he was drafted by the 49ers with the 70th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Warner has been as good of linebacker as there is in the NFL. He has had at least 118 tackles in every season he has played, and has had at least 130 in his last four seasons.

He has been named First-team All-Pro four times in his career, with three of those coming the last three seasons. He is the quarterback of the defense, who does an outstanding job of making sure his teammates are lined up how they need to be.

No team is more prepared for this situation, or handles this situation better than Shanahan. The fact the 49ers have had the success they have had over the past few seasons with all the injuries they have dealt with just shows how good the culture is in San Francisco.

The motto in the NFL is ‘next man up’, and the 49ers are as equipped to deal with it as any team. Even with the loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday, the 49ers are still tied for first place in the NFC West with the Los Angeles Rams.

Up next in Week 7 is a game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football.
