6 former ministers-MPK will be summoned by ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned six former ministers, state ministers, chief whips and members of parliament (MPs) for questioning over the mountain of wealth acquired through irregularities and corruption. On Tuesday (September 3), this information was revealed by the public relations office of the organization.

The agency has summoned them for questioning tomorrow, Wednesday (September 4). The six former ministers and MPs who have been summoned by the ACC are- former Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, former Chief Whip Noor-e Alam Chowdhury, former State Minister for Law Kamrul Islam, former State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Kujendra Lal Tripura and two former Awami League Member of Parliament (MP) Ziaur Rahman and Kazim Uddin Ahmed.

According to the source of the complaint, in the last 15 years, the income of some of the ministers and MPs has increased abnormally, while the immovable and immovable assets of some have increased. The rate of growth of their wealth is at least 100 to several thousand times. In the case of some, wealth and income increased up to lakhs of times. On the basis of an inquiry report made by TIB on the information of election affidavit, the investigation of illegal assets acquired by former ministers and MPs has started.

Earlier last week, ACC decided to investigate the corruption of former shipping minister Shajahan Khan and former chief whip Noor-i Alam Chowdhury. In view of ACC's application on August 29, the senior special judge of Dhaka banned 14 former ministers and state ministers from traveling abroad. A five-member team under the leadership of ACC Deputy Director Abu Hena Ashikur Rahman is working on the allegations of corruption and irregularities raised against those 14 people.

The ministers banned from leaving the country are- former Health Minister Zahid Malek, former Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni, former Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, former Industries Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder, former Minister Shajahan Khan and former Minister Kamrul Islam. . Apart from this, the banned members of parliament are- former members of parliament Chalim Uddin Tarafdar Salim, Mamunur Rashid Kiran, Kujendra Lal Tripura, Kazim Uddin, Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury and Ziaur Rahman.
