8 days remand of police officer in kidnapping case is enough


Dhaka District Additional Superintendent of Police (promoted to the post of Super Numerary Superintendent of Police) Abdullahil Kafi has been remanded for 8 days by the court in Hazaribagh police station kidnapping case.

He was brought to court at 6.45am on Wednesday (September 4). Later, the police applied to remand him for 10 days for proper investigation of the case. At the end of the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aktaruzzaman granted his 8-day remand.

Earlier on Monday (September 2), a case was filed against Abdullahil Kafi in Ashulia police station for burning the dead body. Besides, another case was filed against him in Hazaribagh police station of the capital.

Later, DB's Joint Commissioner of Police (North) about the case. Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan said that since he is a service officer, he will need the permission of the concerned ministry to arrest him. Initially, his involvement was found in Ashulia's incident. For this, I have applied to the office of the Home Affairs Adviser. He will be arrested and remanded subject to permission.

Incidentally, in a video that has gone viral on social media since August 31, some policemen are seen carrying some bodies in a van and covering them with banners. Later it was learned that the video was from the Ashulia Thana area of ​​Dhaka on August 5. In that video, two police officers are seen piling up the bodies. Local police and residents later identified one of them as a DB police inspector. DB Police arrested Kafi from Hazrat Shahjalal Airport last Monday after the body was burnt in the incident. He is alleged to be involved in the incident of killing and burning students in Dhaka's Ashulia on August 5.
