About 8,000 Rohingyas have entered Bangladesh from Myanmar, said Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain. At the same time, he also said that there will be a serious discussion on the matter in the next two-three days in the cabinet and a way to prevent this intrusion will be found.
The foreign adviser said these things in response to a question from journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (September 3).
Stating that in principle no new Rohingyas will be given shelter, he said, we have information that about 8 thousand Rohingyas have entered. The border issue is not mine though; But when we enter, it becomes ours. There will be a serious discussion on this in the next two-three days in the cabinet and we have to try how to prevent it.
Md. Tauhid Hossain said, it will be tried to prevent as much as possible. And we will not give shelter to any new Rohingya as a matter of principle.
In response to a question whether the border has been sealed to prevent Rohingya infiltration or whether the Border Guard Bangladesh is active or not, the foreign adviser said that it is difficult to seal any border. We admit it. There are many sources at work, some of which involve corruption. We must try to prevent it. It may be discussed with the Home Affairs Advisor in the next day or two.
As an analyst, this former foreign secretary talked about the Bangladesh government's communication with the Arakan Army to make the repatriation of Rohingyas successful. When asked to know his position as an advisor to the government. Tauhid Hossain said, I still think so. But the matter is not mine alone. Don't expect much from me. Because I can't speak the language I used to speak when I was a free man. If I speak now, it should be noted that I represent the government.
