81 killed in terrorist attacks in Nigeria

At least 81 people have been killed in a terrorist attack in northeastern Nigeria. Many people are missing in this incident. Members of the country's militant organization Boko Haram are suspected to be involved in the attack. Local officials gave this information on Tuesday (September 3).

Abdul Karim Dangus, spokesperson of the police in Ube region, said, armed with various weapons, including rifles, RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades), about 150 suspected Boko Haram members attacked more than 50 motorcycles. The attack took place last Sunday in a village named Mafa.

Local official Baluma Jalaluddin said at least 81 people were killed in the attack. 15 people were buried before the soldiers reached Mafa to recover the bodies. Many are missing in the attack.

Boko Haram and other armed groups have been waging an insurgency in northeastern Nigeria for the past 15 years. More than 40 thousand people were killed.
