Rainfall continues in Patuakhali under the influence of low pressure in central and adjoining areas of the country. The district has recorded 83.3 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. The low-income earners have suffered greatly in this. Aman Khat has been submerged due to waterlogging caused by continuous rains. Seasonal vegetable farmers are also facing losses.
The sea adjacent to Kuakata is disturbed under the influence of low pressure. Big and small waves are crashing on the shore. There is a risk of storm surge over coastal areas. Therefore, the Meteorological Office has asked all the seaports of the country to display local warning signal number three. Also, fishing trawlers have been asked to move cautiously from near the coast.
Muslim Shikdar, a farmer of Chiknikandi village of Galachipa upazila, said that all the fields and farms have been flooded due to heavy rain. Even after planting Aman seeds twice this year, I could not save it. Rotten in water. Now I can't get seedlings anywhere. Maybe the land should be kept vacant.
Patuakhali District Meteorological Office Officer-in-Charge Mahbooba Sukhi said that the rainfall may continue for another 24 hours. Besides, there may be thunderstorms along with stormy winds.
