92 Americans, including journalists, are banned from entering Russia

The country's government has banned 92 American journalists, lawyers and businessmen from entering Russia on charges of involvement in anti-Russian propaganda in the United States.

This information was reported on Wednesday (August 28) in a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The ban was imposed in response to the anti-Russian policies of the administration of US President Joe Biden.

Due to the war between Ukraine and Russia, the US diplomatic relationship with Russia has become bitter.

On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the United States that the Western world was β€œplaying with fire” by allowing Ukraine to attack inside Russia.

About 24 journalists from the United States are on the list of 92 people under the ban published on social media Telegram. 14 of them work for the Wall Street , 5 for the New York Times and 4 for the Washington Post.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Biden administration has unfairly imposed broad sanctions on Russian politicians, businessmen, scientists, cultural figures, journalists and media organizations against Moscow. This step has been taken in response.

In addition to top officials, the sanctions list includes officials at other levels of the security agencies and special services, heads of key defense institutions and executives of financial institutions that provide arms to the Ukrainian armed forces and support the Kiev government.

Top US media editorial staff and reporters involved in disinformation and so-called 'hybrid warfare' campaigns against Russia are also covered by the sanctions, the statement added.

Among the sanctions are the Washington Post's David Stern, Adam Taylor, Shane Harris, the New York Times' Lara Jakes, Andrew Cramer, Wall Street editor-in-chief Emma Tucker and former Moscow bureau chief Nathan Hodge.

Wall Street journalist Ivan Garshkovic said of the ban, 'This ban is ridiculous. This is part of the attack on the free press.' Ivan was released this month in a prisoner exchange after 16 months in Russia.

By the way, the situation of Russia-Ukraine war is getting more complicated as the day goes by. Putin has not been able to conquer Ukraine despite fighting for more than two years. Instead, Zelensky's forces are advancing with the help of the West.
