A case was filed against Sheikh Hasina for 'abusing' a government official

This time in Kurigram former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former bridge minister Obaidul Quader and Ulipur upazila livestock officer Dr. A defamation case has been registered against Rezwanul Haque.

On Sunday (September 1), the case was filed in the Kurigram Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court (Ulipur Amli Court) by Manjurul Quader Mominul, a member of the executive committee of Ulipur Upazila BNP of the district and the upazila representative of daily Jayzaydin Patrika.

The court took cognizance of the case and directed the OC of Ulipur police station to investigate. Plaintiff's lawyer Nazrul Islam confirmed this information.

The plaintiff claimed in the application of the case, Ulipur Upazila Livestock Officer (ULO) Dr. Rezwanul Haque became a government employee and worked as an agent of Awami League under the direct or indirect instructions of Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader as a political activist. Plaintiff Manjurul Quader Mominul was present in an exchange meeting organized at Ulipur Upazila Livestock Office on May 15, 2024. Because he (Mominul) is a member of BNP, Dr. ULO. Md. Rezwanul Haque abused him and BNP.

When asked about the reason for the abuse, the officer also abused BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia. He even made objectionable comments about the creation of BNP. In the event of such abuse in front of the people present at the meeting, the plaintiff and his party leaders Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia have suffered considerable loss of dignity in the society, which cannot be compensated even with 10 crores in Bangladeshi currency. In this situation, the plaintiff applied for the issuance of a warrant against the defendants after accepting the case.

Plaintiff's lawyer Nazrul Islam said, “The court accepted the case and instructed the OC of Ulipur police station to investigate and submit a report.”

Meanwhile, legal experts say that blaming a public servant for 'abusing' raises questions about the admissibility of the complaint.

Supreme Court lawyer and former senior judicial magistrate Azizur Rahman Dulu said, 'The court has ordered an investigation into the case. Since the court did not directly take cognizance of the case, the allegations may or may not be true. Being a sub judice matter, it is not appropriate to comment.'
