A youth was hacked to death due to a previous dispute over land in Savar. The incident took place in Kakabo village of Birulia Union of Savar Upazila on Thursday (May 23) afternoon. The name of the deceased young man. Ramadan (35). Md. Son of Shaukat Hossain.
Sohana Akhtar, the witness and the wife of the deceased youth, said that they have 18 percent land in Kakabo Kheyaghat area. For a long time there was a dispute with some local people about that land. At least 8/10 people including accused Rahim, Yunus, Yanus, Manik went to occupy that land in the afternoon.
After getting the news, the deceased Ramzan went to that land with his brother-in-law Salim. When the accused attacked them with sharp weapons, Salim managed to run away, but caught Ramzan and hit him on the head with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring him. After getting the news, the family members rescued Ramzan and took him to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
In this regard, Inspector (Operation) of Savar Model Police Station Nayan Karkun confirmed the matter and said, 'On receiving the news, the police recovered the body of the deceased from the hospital and sent it for post-mortem. There are marks of sharp weapon injuries on the body and head of the deceased. Action will be taken after investigating the reason for this murder.'
