Billionaire Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker took aim at former President Donald Trump’s wealth during his speech at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.
Pritzker, whose home state is hosting the DNC in Chicago, implied during his time on stage that the Republican presidential nominee wasn’t a “real billionaire” and that he was “only rich in stupidity.”
While many other top Democrats have attacked Trump throughout the course of the convention, Pritzker stands out as one of the only Democrat politicians capable of matching him financially, being a billionaire himself.
Pritzker said: “Take it from an actual billionaire, Trump is rich in only one thing, stupidity.”
Newsweek contacted the Trump campaign and Pritzker’s office for further comment via email.

How Rich Is JB Pritzker?
JB Pritzker, a member of the wealthy Pritzker family that owns the Hyatt hotel chain, is estimated to be worth $3.5 billion, according to Forbes. Pritzker’s wealth comes primarily from his family’s business empire, but he has also made significant investments in technology and other sectors.
Pritzker has used his wealth to fund his political campaigns, contributing millions of dollars to his own gubernatorial races. Unlike Trump, Pritzker’s wealth has been relatively stable, with few controversies surrounding his financial dealings.
How Rich Is Donald Trump?
Donald Trump’s wealth has been a subject of much debate and speculation. Trump has often claimed to be worth over $10 billion, a figure that has been contested by financial experts and investigative journalists.
According to Forbes, Trump’s net worth as of Tuesday is estimated at around $4.3 billion, significantly lower than his claims. The discrepancy largely stems from Trump’s valuation of his brand and real estate holdings, which he has reportedly inflated in various financial disclosures.
A chunk of the former president’s wealth is tied to the value of Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, of which he owns the majority. The company’s stock closed at a record low of $21.42 per share on Tuesday.
Trump’s financial troubles have also been exacerbated by legal battles, including investigations into his business practices by the New York Attorney General Letitia James. These challenges have raised questions about the sustainability of his wealth and the accuracy of his financial statements.

The DNC has also seen other top Democrats, such as former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and former nominee Hillary Clinton, speak out against Trump.
In particular, Michelle Obama’s comments on the former president Tuesday night were seen as particularly aggressive. In her speech, she said: “For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us.
“His limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated, successful people who happened to be Black.”
