Interim government chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is keeping a close eye on the flood situation and has directed the advisory council members to stand by the flood affected people.
He gave this instruction at the cabinet meeting held at Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Thursday.
In the evening, the press secretary of the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam said in a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, 'The flood situation was discussed in detail in the Cabinet meeting today and Dr. Yunus asked the members of the advisory council to visit the flood-affected areas.
He said that 10 districts were affected by floods and lastly 3.6 lakh people were affected by floods. He mentioned that the advisers will visit these districts to stand by the distressed people.
Citing the Directorate of Meteorology, Shafiqul Alam said that the flood situation has arisen due to heavy rains for a long time. Besides, one of the causes of floods is the drying up of rivers and canals.
The press secretary said, our chief advisor is constantly monitoring what is happening where, what can be done. We have confirmed two deaths so far. We don't have any missing figures yet.
Earlier in the morning, there was a discussion on dealing with the ongoing flood situation under the chairmanship of the Chief Adviser at the Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna.
After the meeting, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, said that what the government should do about it and what to do for those who are victims of this flood situation and how to coordinate between the government, at the same time what is the cause of this flood, in the future What can we do to avoid the flood that is said to be unprecedented in Feni β these have been discussed.
βWe have decided that the members of the Advisory Council will go to all the flood-affected districts with utmost importance. Meanwhile, the relief advisor is going to Feni today. The exact disaster affected area is still not reachable. Reach as close as possible and try to coordinate the relief work.'
Rizwana Hasan said, until the flood-affected people's losses are assessed, until it is fully rehabilitated, it will remain under surveillance.
Stating that there will be a foundation for those who were injured and killed in the movement, he said, βIt will be headed by the chief adviser. Affected family members will hold important positions among the members.
