Al Amin's frozen body returned home from the victory procession


Mir Muhammad Al Amin joined the victory procession after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the face of anti-discrimination student movement. Social media went live on Facebook to share the victory celebration with everyone. But suddenly the network of his live was disconnected and the mobile was switched off in the sound of gunshots. After that, Al Amin was nowhere to be found. 12 days after the victory march, his body was found with bullet wounds in the mortuary of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in the capital. I never imagined that my brother would die like this in the victory procession. The words were spoken by Al Amin's younger sister Aflan Cynthia.

Deceased Mir Muhammad Al Amin (29) is the elder son of Ismail Mir Malat of Dakshin Magar village of Bijhari union of Naria upazila of Shariatpur. Al Amin's relatives and the protesters who were with him cannot accept such a death after being shot from the victory procession.

Al Amin's sister Aflan Cynthia said, “My brother lived with his family in Saudi Arabia since he was four years old.” Although the whole family returned to Bangladesh a year ago, Al Amin came four months ago. After coming to the country, he used to run a grocery store with his father in Savar Baipal area of ​​capital Dhaka. Al Amin was a supporter of the anti-discrimination student movement. After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, around noon, Al Amin participated in the victory procession and live-streamed the victory cheers on his own Facebook ID. Which was seen by everyone including his relatives.

He said, the live of my brother Al Amin's victory procession was six minutes and 27 seconds long. In that video, it can be seen that people are chanting slogans, 'Palaichere Palaiche, Sheikh Hasina is fleeing'. On the other hand many people were carrying sticks. Also seen in the video, injured or dead people are being taken away in vans. After some time my brother Al Amin's facebook live was closed. Later his mobile number was also found to be switched off. He was missing since then.

He also said that my father and another brother lived in Dhaka with Al Amin. On the evening of the incident, they first told me that Al Amin had not returned home yet. In the second round, around 2.30 am, father told me the same news again. After that we came to know about the news that on the 5th there was a lot of shelling in Savar, Baipal, Nabinagar areas. We all worried and searched among the injured admitted in Enam Medical, Habib Medical, Gonoshasthaya Hospital, Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Hospital, Suhrawardy and Dhaka Medical College in Savar area of ​​Dhaka but could not find Al Amin anywhere. After that we went to the army, RAB, they also couldn't find anything. Our whole family went crazy with the news of such a missing brother.

Katar Aflan Cynthia, mourning the loss of her brother by joining the victory procession, also said that suddenly I saw the news on a private television that there were four unidentified bodies in Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital. After 12 days of disappearance, I found the body of my brother Al Amin with a bullet mark wound on the forehead after receiving information at the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital yesterday on August 17 at 3 pm. I came to know from hospital sources that my brother died while undergoing treatment on August 6.

He also said, I brought Al Amin's dead body to the village house on Saturday night (August 17). At night, funeral prayers were held at the village house. Then at around 3 pm, activists of Shariatpur's anti-discrimination student movement and others brought Al Amin's body to Shariatpur city and kept it in the hospital morgue.

On Sunday (August 18) around 11 o'clock in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner, the students of the anti-discrimination student movement took Al Amin's sister Aflan Cynthia with the Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nizam Uddin Ahmed and Superintendent of Police Md. Meeting with Mahbubul Alam. The meeting demanded respect and compensation for those killed and injured in the movement.

At this time, the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police answered various questions of the students and said that they will be present at the Janaza Namaaz to be held in the afternoon at the Panchapally Guru-Ram High School grounds of Naria Upazila for the salvation of Al Amin's soul. Apart from this, they said that the current government has instructions, financial support and other support will be provided to the dead and injured. Therefore, if the details are received in writing from Al Amin's family, it will be sent to the concerned department for taking necessary measures.

Amin Mohammad Jiut, a coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement in Shariatpur. He said, we want Mir Muhammad Al Amin to be buried with state honours. Apart from this, let something in the district be named after him along with compensation. So that the next generation remembers this self-sacrifice of Al Amin forever.
