Alexander Angus appointed Chief Operating Officer of Montgomery Group

Alexander Angus, formally Managing Director of Montgomery Africa, has been appointed to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Montgomery Group, focussing on supporting divisions and departments across the Group with day-to-day operations.

Alexander joined Montgomery Group over a decade ago, spearheading the expansion of the organiser’s trade exhibition portfolio in East and West Africa. He launched manufacturing event Propak West Africa in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2012 and established the Montgomery East Africa business in Kenya the same year.

More recently, as Managing Director – Africa, Angus has been responsible for driving organic growth and establishing Montgomery Group as the largest organiser of trade exhibitions in Africa, with events in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.

“I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Alexander Angus as Chief Operating Officer,” comments Damion Angus, Chairman and Group Managing Director of Montgomery Group. “Alexander has been instrumental in driving the growth and expansion of our events portfolios across Africa, demonstrating exceptional leadership and vision over a number of challenging years.

“As COO I’m confident that he will bring immense value to the Group’s global operations and lay a strong foundation for the future growth and success of the business.”

In addition to his new role, Angus will continue to oversee the organiser’s data & digital strategy and remain a board member for African regions.

“I’m looking forward to playing a more pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of our global business and supporting our teams around the world as they deliver exceptional events for their communities,” says Angus. “We have ambitious plans for the future of Montgomery Group, not just in terms of growing our event portfolios but also in how we operate as a diverse, inclusive and sustainability-minded business.” Montgomery Group is one of the UK’s largest independent event organisers, with more than 50 events across 15 countries and a wide range of sectors.
