American Airlines Kicks Man Off Plane Over His Bleeding Head

Two airline travelers were arrested on a flight after one of them refused to deplane while bleeding from the head.

On Monday, Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, 27, and Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, 32, were traveling from Miami International Airport to Las Vegas on an American Airlines flight when attendants noticed that Hernandez-Garnier’s scalp was bleeding.

When asked to apply more bandages to his wounds, which are believed to have been sustained following a hair transplant, Hernandez-Garnier told staff he did not have any more, and a supervisor asked him to leave the plane.

The couple responded that if they can’t fly, “no one else can either,” a police report said.

A TikTok video posted by Loyola shows officers pulling Hernandez-Garnier from his seat while she sits next to him. He can be seen with bandages on the back of his head but not on the top.

“After a brief moment of resisting to be handcuffed, they were subsequently placed under arrest,” the police report said. “Due to the defendants’ actions, the passengers on the flight were de-boarded and caused unnecessary delays to the airlines.” More than 100 passengers were forced to leave the plane because of the incident.

The pair, both from Las Vegas, was taken to Jackson West Medical Center in Doral to be evaluated for the bleeding before being transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, the police report continued.

Newsweek contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department for further details on the arrests via email outside normal working hours.

According to the report, the couple faces charges of trespassing after a warning and resisting an officer without violence.

“During boarding of American Airlines flight 1858 on August 19 with service from Miami (MIA) to Las Vegas (LAS), two customers became disruptive and were non-compliant with crewmember instructions,” American Airlines said in a statement to Newsweek. “Law enforcement responded and removed both customers from the aircraft. We thank our crew members for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”

The airline also confirmed that the flight departed Tuesday morning after an overnight delay.

Complaints about unruly passengers on board planes aren’t infrequent. A passenger in Australia was arrested on Thursday after leaving a parked plane through an emergency exit, walking along a wing and climbing down a jet engine onto the tarmac.

Earlier this month, a captain flying a Tui aircraft from Glasgow, Scotland, to Tenerife, Spain, warned his passengers not to misbehave before the plane had even departed the runway.
