An old woman died after being hit by a microbus in Rangpur

An old woman was killed by a microbus in Taraganj of Rangpur. Four more people were injured in this incident. The deceased woman's name is Sandhya Rani. The house of the deceased is Harikata village of Kursha union of the upazila.

The accident happened in front of Taraganj Upazila Parishad on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway on Monday (September 2) at 10:30 am.

According to the police, eyewitnesses and family sources, Sandhya Rani left her house at 10 in the morning in a rickshaw with her two granddaughters to buy new summer clothes for her granddaughters in the Taraganj market. When the rickshaw reached in front of the Upazila Parishad on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway, a Dinajpur-bound microbus hit the rickshaw from behind and ran away. Sandhya Rani died on the spot. At that time children Anupam Rani, Anu Rani, passenger Maina Rani (34), rickshaw driver Dalim Roy were seriously injured. Locals rescued the injured and admitted them to Taraganj Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-charge of Taraganj Highway Police Station Khan Shariful Islam said that an old woman was killed in a road accident around 10:30 am. The driver left the microbus in Taraganj Chowpathi area and ran away. The mangled rickshaw and microbus are in police custody.
