Another case against Sheikh Hasina-Kader in Bogra

A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 140 people including former Minister of Roads and Bridges and Obaidul Quader under Explosives Act in Shibganj of Bogra. Shahinur Islam Alamin, a resident of Rangamatia village of Shibganj upazila and coordinator of anti-discrimination movement, filed the case in Bogra Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sukant Sahar court on Tuesday (August 20).

Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader have been made accused in the case.

On July 19, Shahinur Islam filed the case in connection with the cocktail and firing on students in front of Sonali Bank in Shibganj Upazila. One person named Nazmul Hossain Nayan was injured in that incident.

The notable accused in the case are- Former Member of Parliament of Bogra-II Constituency Shariful Islam Jinnah, Former Upazila Chairman Firoz Ahmed Riju, Former Vice Chairman Shah Newaz Bipul, Former Vice Chairman Rezzakul Islam Raju, Hussain Sharif Acumin, Aminul Islam Dudu, Abdul Mannan, of Maidanhata Union. Former Chairman SM Rupam, Majhihatt Union Chairman Eskender Ali Sahan, Buriganj Union Chairman Rezaul Karim Chanchal and Bihar Union Chairman Mahidul Islam. 13 unnamed accused have been made.

It is said in the statement of the case that on July 19, the students took out a procession in Shibganj. According to the orders of Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader, the accused had already taken positions with cocktails, iron rods and sticks to resist the students. When the procession reached the Sonali Bank square of the upazila, the accused detonated multiple cocktails as per the orders of Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader. As a result, the students were dispersed. At one point, the accused opened fire on the protesters. At that time, Nazmul was shot in the hand and leg. When the agitators chased the accused, they fled. Later Nazmul was rescued and admitted to the hospital.

When his condition worsened, he was transferred to Dhaka Orthopedic Hospital. After recovering there, his physical condition deteriorated again. After that he was admitted to Bogra City Clinic and Diagnostic Center. After receiving treatment from there, Nazmul returned home on August 14.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shibganj police station Abdur Rauf said, 'I have heard about filing a case in the court. Nothing in writing has come to us.'

Incidentally, another case was filed against Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader at Bogra Sadar police station on Tuesday. A total of three cases have been filed against these two in Bogra.
