Ansar's movement suspended on advisers' assurances – Bangladesh Diplomat

Ansar members started the movement by standing in front of the secretariat from Sunday (August 25) morning. Later, Interim Government Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Information Adviser Nahid Islam and Labor and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan held a meeting with some of their representatives.

Later, the Home Affairs Adviser told the journalists that the grace system or the six-month break currently available to ordinary Ansars will not be there. We arrived at a decision after discussing with the three advisors and others. Grace is a practice of three years of service followed by a six-month hiatus. After six months they were reintegrated into the force. For these six months they live in a predicament about livelihood. That is their main problem. Therefore, we all agree that this practice should be abolished. We will decide after the recommendation of the committee how to remove it from the recruitment rules.

At that time, information advisor Nahid Islam told reporters that a recommendation committee has been made for the other demands of Ansar. This committee will review and report within seven working days. This committee will have four representatives of general Ansar. They will assist in formulating recommendations. Then we will sit in the inter-ministerial meeting and take a decision. Ansar members are victims of discrimination, the problems they face, logical solutions will be tried.

On behalf of the general Ansar. Nasim Mia said, after the meeting with the Home Affairs Advisor, they decided to cancel the grace system. Besides, their demand for nationalization will be recommended through the committee. The movement will be suspended for now.
