Arson and vandalism in Dewanbagi Pir's hideout

On the charge of un-Islamic activities, vandalism and arson took place at Dewanbagi Pir's shelter adjacent to Madanpur bus stand of Bandar Upazila of Narayanganj. On receiving the information, the workers of the Port Fire Service were able to put out the fire. The situation in the area is tense. The incident took place after Fajr prayers on Friday (September 6). Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station Golam Mostafa confirmed the matter by quoting locals.

He said that his followers prepared to celebrate the birth anniversary of the controversial Dewanbagi Pir on Thursday (September 5) afternoon. At that time, when the worshipers of Dewanbagh Jama Masjid stopped, the followers of Pir chased the worshipers. At that time, brick and stone pelting happened on both sides. Later on Friday morning, the Muslims of 10/15 villages in the vicinity united and vandalized and set fire to Dewanbagi's shelter on the charge of conducting anti-Islamic activities. At that time they took two cows and two buffaloes. Later the police came and brought the situation under control. The case is being prepared in this case.

Local residents said that about 30 years ago, Dewanbagi Pir Mahbub-e-Khoda was disturbed by various statements about Islam. This caused a dispute among scholars. At that time, the followers of Dewanbagi Pir clashed with local residents and Muslims. Several people were killed in the firing at that time. 2020's Controversial Dewanbagi Peer Passes Away

In this regard, Bandar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) MA Mohaimin Al Jihan said that a party had announced the program here after Friday prayers. As such, the police had prepared since morning. But someone attacked and vandalized after Fajr prayer. He also said that efforts are being made to find the culprits.

Confirming the matter, Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumder told reporters that an unexpected incident took place in the morning. The police administration took action immediately. And the administration is active to prevent any incident from happening. He also said that those who have caused this incident will be brought under the law.
