Rehan Asif Asad has officially assumed responsibility as an advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology. On Sunday (February 22), he started the activities by exchanging views with the heads of the concerned departments and organizations in the meeting room of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications in the Secretariat. Later held a separate meeting with the officials in the meeting room of Information and Communication Technology Department in Agargaon.
After taking charge, Rehan Asif said that in order to implement the Prime Minister's election promise, initiatives have been taken to introduce free or low-cost internet services step by step in important public places of the country to ensure internet facilities for all. He said that emphasis will be placed on the necessary infrastructure development to reduce the digital disparity in cities and rural areas.
He further said that plans have been undertaken to strengthen cyber security, modernize data management and strengthen technology infrastructure. Apart from this, efforts are being made to remove existing complications related to payment gateways to facilitate international transactions for freelancers and young entrepreneurs.
Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Ministry of Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam, Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department Sheesh Haider Chowdhury and Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Department Abdun Nasser Khan were present in the meeting.
At the beginning of assuming responsibility, the newly appointed advisor called for quick implementation of effective initiatives by increasing coordination with the concerned officials.
