A young man named Sonu (32) was shot dead by miscreants inside the Geneva camp in Mohammadpur area of the capital, focusing on drug sales and dominance.
Sonu was shot at around 8:30 am on Wednesday (September 4). When he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead around 9:30 am.
Two young men named Shamim Hossain and Sajib Ahmed brought him to the hospital. They said that they are neighbors of the deceased youth. Sonu is the child of Babul Hossain of Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur. He has two sons and daughters. Sonu lived in sector five of the Geneva camp and drove a battery-powered rickshaw. A clash broke out between two groups inside the camp today (Wednesday) morning. At that time, shots were fired. At that time Sanu was shot. There have been frequent clashes in the camp for the past month over drug sales and dominance.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost Incharge (Inspector) Md. Farooq said that Sonu was hit by at least 15 bullets in his stomach. The body of the young man has been kept in the hospital's emergency department morgue. He also commented that the incident has been reported to Mohammadpur police station.
