Awami League banned and deregistered writ order on September 1


The court has set September 1 as the date of the writ order banning the Awami League for its involvement in the indiscriminate killing of students during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Tuesday (August 27) Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Md. Mahbubul ul Islam's High Court bench fixed this day for the order.

Attorney General Md. heard the state in the court. Asaduzzaman. Petitioner Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan heard on behalf of the writ.

On August 19, a writ was filed in the High Court seeking the ban and deregistration of Bangladesh Awami League for indiscriminate killing of students.

Executive Director Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan filed the writ on behalf of human rights organization Sarda Society. In this writ, the names of the institutions which are in the name of Sheikh Hasina have also been sought.

Besides, the present interim government has been sought for a minimum term of three years in order to reform the country. Along with this, it has been requested to bring back 11 lakh crores smuggled abroad and to transfer the officials who were appointed on contractual basis during the previous Awami League government.

At that time, the writ petitioner Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan said that a ruling and order has been sought on the issues of the writ.

Later on August 25, the writ petitioner Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan asked for Tuesday time to hear the writ. Then the court fixed today for the hearing on the matter. On the other hand, in this same writ, the writ petitioner made the part seeking a minimum term of 3 years for the interim government 'not pressed' (not raised).

Attorney General at the hearing. Asaduzzaman told the court, 'The interim government is according to the constitution. How long they will stay is not a matter brought up for court order. This matter of writ is not maintainable.
