Azad Majumdar was appointed as Deputy Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser

Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, joint press editor of English daily New Age, has been appointed as deputy press secretary to the chief adviser to the interim government.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Contracts and Foreign Recruitment Wing under the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday (August 22).

According to the notification signed by Deputy Secretary Kaniz Fatema by order of the President, Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar shall be appointed Grade-4 of National Pay Scale-2015 for the tenure of Chief Adviser from the date of joining on condition of severing working relationship with other institutions and organizations or subject to his satisfaction (whichever occurs earlier). The highest step of the salary scale of 50 thousand to 71 thousand 200 taka has been given contractual appointment to the post of deputy press secretary of the chief adviser at the fixed salary of 71 thousand 200 taka. The notification also mentions that other terms and conditions of this appointment will be determined by the approved contract.

Incidentally, Abul Kalam Azad has also worked in several domestic and international media in addition to being the joint news editor of the latest English daily New Age. After studying journalism from Dhaka University, Azad Majumdar started his professional career with sports journalism.

Earlier on August 14, Shafiqul Alam, chief of the Dhaka bureau of news agency AFP, was given the responsibility of the press secretary of the interim government's chief adviser, Muhammad Yunus. Apart from this, Apoorba Jahangir has been appointed as Deputy Press Secretary of Chief Adviser and Shabbir Ahmed as Assistant Private Secretary.
