The Bangladesh team reached the semi-finals of SAFF U-20 Football Championship. Maruful Haque's disciples confirmed the last four by defeating Sri Lanka 2-0 in their first match in the 'A' group at Dasharath Stadium in Nepal today.
Basically Sri Lanka lost this match after the previous match and their exit was confirmed. On the other hand, Nepal and Bangladesh entered the semi-finals.
Mirazul Islam scored Bangladesh's goal in the first half of the day. And in the end Piyas Ahmed Nova scored. At the end of 17 minutes, Mirazul got the ball extended by his teammate from the right and tapped his right foot into the net. And in the 85th minute, Pius scored to secure a 2-0 victory.
Nepal and Bangladesh will meet in the group stage match on Thursday.
A total of six teams have participated in two groups in this year's Youth Saf. Group 'B' consists of India, Maldives and Bhutan.
Two semi-finals will be held on August 25 and 26. And the final will be on August 28.
