Bangladesh is launching the 'Bangabandhu Shanti Padak', the prize is 1 lakh dollars


Bangladesh government is going to introduce an international peace award in the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. For this purpose, the draft of 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Peace Medal Policy-2024' has been approved.

This prestigious medal will be awarded every two years from 2025 in recognition of contribution to world peace, human rights, hunger and poverty alleviation.

Citizens of any country in the world including Bangladesh, President-Prime Minister of any country, social worker, politician can be considered for this medal. Apart from this, Nobel laureates and heads of embassies in Bangladesh can propose names for the respective countries.

Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain gave this information during the briefing at the Secretariat after the Cabinet meeting on Monday (May 20). He said that an impartial and international jury board will be formed in this regard. Along with that, a policy will also be made.

Mahbub Hossain said that the names of the awardees will be announced on March 17 every two years. Besides, the award will be given on May 23. The awardee will receive a cash prize of USD 1 lakh along with an 18 carat gold medal weighing 50 grams.
