Bangladesh waiting for defeat, Chittagong Test on the fifth day


At the end of the fourth day of the second Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh left the field very close to defeat. The hosts scored 268 runs after losing 7 wickets to bat against the target of 511 runs given by the Lankans. Bangladesh still need to score 243 runs to win. Sri Lanka want 3 wickets.

The hosts lost two openers out of the team's 51 runs in the second innings. Mahmudul Hasan, who scored 24 runs in the tenth over, was bowled by Prabath Jayasuriya. Zakir Hasan (19) caught behind the wicket off Biswa Fernando. After being bowled by Lahiru Kumara, captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto (20) left the field.

Muminul Haque could not survive after scoring a half-century. He left the field with 8 fours and a six off Prabhath Jayasuriya in 56 balls. Then Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das tried to form a pair. They scored 61 runs off 99 balls for the fifth wicket.

However, Shakib departed with a personal slip catch of 36 off Kamindu Mendis. After that Lytton could not stay at the crease for long. Kumara's second victim, he left the field with 38 off 72 balls. Young Shahadat Hossain scored 15 runs and was dismissed by Kaminduri.

Angelo Mathews was bowled by Shakib Al Hasan at the start of the day at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Mathews scored 56 off 74 balls with 5 fours.

Earlier, Sri Lanka ended the third day by scoring 102 runs after losing 6 wickets after leading by 353 runs in the first innings. The Lankans' lead was 455 runs yesterday.

In the second Test of the series, Bangladeshi batsmen showed their poor condition in batting. In response to Sri Lanka's 531 runs in the first innings, they were all out for just 178 runs.
