Bank robbery attempt in Bogra

In Bogra again, miscreants attempted to rob the bank gate by breaking the vault, tying the hands and feet of two Ansar members and a security guard. At that time, the mobile phones and money of two Ansar members were robbed. The incident took place at Sonali Bank's Shibganj branch around 3 pm on Tuesday (May 28). Later in the afternoon, the police took the two Ansar members who were on duty at the time of the incident to the police station for questioning.

According to the bank authorities, after the normal operations of the bank on Monday (May 27), two Ansar members named Nayan Hossain and Farhad Hossain and a security worker named Abdur Rahman were left in charge. Due to the impact of Cyclone Remal, there was no electricity in Shivganj since the beginning of two days. On Tuesday (May 28) in the early morning, when there was no electricity, 4 to 5 masked miscreants cut the collapsible gate of the ground floor of the bank and broke the lock of the main gate of the second floor and entered and took Ansar members and security guards hostage at gunpoint and tried to loot money from the vault.

However, when the locals came forward with the shouts of Ansar members, the miscreants fled. Before leaving, they were able to take two mobile phones and some money from the money bag belonging to the Ansar members.

Sumaiya Akhter, principal officer of Sonali Bank, said that the Ansar members on duty could not hear the sound of the gate being cut due to the storm at night. The miscreants hold their hostages at gunpoint and attempt to rob the vault. But when the locals came forward, they ran away.

However, the official did not give any information about the amount of money in the bank vault.

Victim Ansar member Nayan Hossain said that around 3 o'clock in the night some masked miscreants entered the bank with domestic weapons. They tried to rob the vault by putting their arms around our necks, but when the natives came forward on hearing the screams, they ran away.

Earlier, on January 27, a robbery of around 10 lakh rupees took place at Pallimangal sub-branch of NRBC Bank in Bogra Sadar. However, the police have not yet arrested anyone in the incident.
