BNP leader SM Tajul expelled from Bogra

The co-organizing secretary of Bogra District BNP SM Tajul Islam has been expelled for violating party discipline of Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP.

He was expelled in a press release signed by Taiful Islam Tipu, Co-Office Secretary of BNP Central Committee on Saturday (August 31).

According to the notification, based on specific allegations of involvement in activities against party discipline, the co-organizing secretary of Bogra District BNP SM Tajul Islam has been expelled from all positions including primary members of BNP.

Bogra District BNP General Secretary Ali Azgar Talukdar Hena confirmed the matter.

After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the student movement on August 5, 11 leaders of Jubo Dal and Svechchasebak Dal were expelled from Bogra on various charges. Besides, several BNP leaders were warned. However, this is the first time a BNP leader has been expelled. Tajul Islam was the General Secretary of Shibganj Upazila Committee of BNP.

Several leaders of Bogra district BNP said that after the fall of fascist Sheikh Hasina, she organized a meeting of party leaders and activists in Shibganj. At one stage of his speech at the meeting, he commented on the organizational skills of BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman. A video of which spread on social media. In that video, Tajul Islam can be heard saying, 'Tareek Rahman could not have taken any organizational decision without the advice of Shibganj Upazila BNP President Mir Shahe Alam.'

Mir Shahe Alam, President of Shibganj Upazila BNP, said that after that speech, Tajul was recommended to the party's district committee for expulsion.

Bogra District BNP General Secretary Ali Azgar Talukdar Hena said that the recommendation of Tajul Islam's expulsion sent from the Shibganj Upazila Committee was sent to the party's central committee. Later it was decided to expel him from there. He also said that BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman participated in a virtual meeting with party leaders of various districts of Rajshahi Division on August 30 in the afternoon and said that there will be no place for criminals in the party. If anyone from the party is involved in any misdeeds then he will not only be expelled but if BNP comes to power they will be found and prosecuted.
