Body of female journalist recovered from Hatirjheel


The body of a woman named Sarah Rahanuma (32) was found floating in the capital's Hatirjheel lake. The deceased Rahanuma was reported to be the newsroom editor of private television channel G-TV.

On Tuesday (August 27) Rahnuma was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 1:30 am, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.

Sagar, the passerby who brought Rahanuma to the hospital, said that he saw the woman floating in the water of Hatirjheel lake. Later, when he was rescued unconscious and taken to Dhaka Medical, the doctor declared him dead. Rahanuma's house is in Kalyanpur. His father's name is Bakhtiar Shikder.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp in-charge Bachchu Mia confirmed the death and said that the body has been kept in the morgue. The matter has been informed to the concerned police station.

It should be noted that Sarah Rahnuma made a post on Facebook around 12 pm on Tuesday – 'It is better to die than to be alive.' At the same time, he tagged a young man named Fahim Faisal and gave another post – 'It's nice to have a friend like you. God bless you. Hope all your dreams come true soon. We had many plans. Sorry, can't fulfill the plans. May Allah bless you in every aspect of your life.'

In that post, Sarah also posted a few pictures of Dhaka University's Raju sculpture with a flag tied on her forehead.
