The Denver Broncos entered the 2024 offseason with a big question at quarterback. After benching Russell Wilson and allowing him to walk in free agency to the Pittsburgh Steelers, there was a glaring hole at the position.

Jared Stidham did a decent enough job for Wilson when he was benched, but the team questioned whether or not he was fit to be the starting quarterback for the 2024 season. Instead of trading up in the draft, the Broncos front office stood pat and took Oregon’s Bo Nix with the No. 12 overall pick.

Many questioned the move, considering there were “better” prospects for the Broncos to attempt to trade up for. However, Nix continued to showcase his poise as the starting quarterback through two games of preseason.

Now, Sean Payton has officially named Nix the starter for the 2024 season.

Nix beat out Stidham and former New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson to become the starter for the Broncos in 2024. Though this is not that shocking, it will now be time to see if the investment in Nix will pay off.
