BSF bullets landed in Bangladeshi's kitchen

A Bangladeshi's kitchen rice spilled in the firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Phulbari border in Kurigram. The incident took place next to International Main Pillar 931 of Dhularkuti border of Naodanga Union of Upazila.

A team of BGB along with Naik Subedar Nazrul Islam of Gorkamondal camp under Lalmonirhat 15 BGB went to the Bangladeshi's house around 12:30 pm on Sunday (May 12) and inspected the leaky tin rice and recovered the bullet fired by BSF and brought it to the camp.

After the matter was reported to 15 battalion, on Monday (May 13) morning, the BSF protested strongly, and a company-level flag meeting of BGB-BSF was held on the border at 6 pm on Monday.

Border resident witnesses Shah Alam Mia and Abdul Quddus said that some border women went to the Indian noman's land around 5:30 pm on Sunday to collect the remaining straw of the cut paddy trees. Meanwhile, a BSF member patrolling the Indian Narayanganj camp chased them. When the women who were going to collect hay ran into the territory of Bangladesh, the BSF personnel followed them and entered about 20 to 30 yards into the interior of Bangladesh. At one point, he raised his rifle and fired a round at the women and quickly moved to the Indian border.

The bullet missed the target and spilled rice in the kitchen of Noor Alam Bachchu's house in the border area and spilled on the floor. At that time, Bachchu's son's wife, who was in the kitchen, was frightened by the loud sound of gunshots. Later, the border dwellers started running in panic due to the loud sound of gunshots. Later Noor Alam Bachchu's daughter-in-law Shakila Akhter Iti recovered the bullet from the kitchen floor. On receiving the news, the BGB members of the adjacent Gorkamandal camp seized the bullets recovered from the spot and brought them to the camp at around 12:30 pm.

Nur Alam Bachchu said, at that time my daughter-in-law was in the kitchen. Luckily the bullet did not hit him. Sometimes the Indian BSF enters Bangladesh like this and tortures the innocent villagers. We are always in fear of BSF. Such unprovoked shootings should be investigated and strongly protested.

In this regard, acting captain of Lalmonirhat 15 BGB battalion, Major Asif said that a flag meeting was held at the company commander level at the border on Monday (May 13) at six o'clock in the evening. Subedar Naresh Chandra Roy, Company Commander of Shimulbari Camp under Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion, led the BGB in the meeting and Inspector Raman Singh, Narayanganj Company Commander of 90 BSF Battalion, led the BSF. BGB strongly objected to know the reason for unprovoked firing at the border in the meeting, BSF asked to explain the reason for firing again through the flag meeting on Tuesday (May 14) after reviewing the CCTV footage of the border. At present, BGB is on alert on that border.
