Pilot Asim Jawad Rifat, who was killed in the crash of an Air Force training plane in the Karnaphuli river of Chittagong, has been buried with state honors in his own district Manikganj. He was buried at Seota Cemetery on Friday (May 10) around 2:30 pm.
Earlier, Asim Jawad's funeral parade and second namaaz were held at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar Parade Ground in Dhaka Cantonment. At this time he was given a guard of honour.
Locals said, Asim Jawad is their pride, their pride. He has left a mark of merit in various levels in his student life. He was a fearless soldier even in his career. His departure was a big loss for us and the country.
Earlier, Asim Jawad's body was brought to Dhaka in an air force plane from Chittagong at 8 am. Then they were taken to the parade ground of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar for the second funeral and funeral parade.
His second funeral was held at 10:20 am. After that, floral tributes were paid by the Prime Minister, the President and the three forces.
A training aircraft of the Air Force took off from Chittagong's Patenga Zahurul Haque Air Base at around 10:30 am on Thursday (May 9) when a mechanical fault occurred in the aircraft and the aircraft caught fire.
Then the plane crashed in the Karnaphuli river, seriously injuring Wing Commander Sohan and Squadron Leader Asim. Squadron Leader Asim Jawad died around 12 noon while undergoing treatment at Patenga Hospital.
