Three people were killed when a bus hit the back of a truck on top of the Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj. 8 more people were injured in this incident. The accident took place on Saturday (September 7) at around 5:30 a.m. near the 13th pillar of the Bangabandhu Bridge on the Dhaka-bound lane. However, the name of the victim was not immediately available.
The matter was confirmed by Bangabandhu Setu West Police Officer-in-Charge (OC). Abdul Quader Jilani.
He said, when a passenger bus of Dhaka Express Paribahan from Sirajganj reached Dhaka at around 5:30 am, the driver lost control and hit the back of a truck in front of the bridge. This caused the front part of the bus to twist and three passengers were killed on the spot. 8 more people were injured in this incident. However, the names and identities of the victims could not be confirmed immediately.
The OC also said that three dead and eight injured persons were rescued and taken to Sadar Hospital on reaching the spot. Traffic on the bridge was restored immediately after recovering the accident bus. But the truck left immediately after the accident.

Sirajganj 250-bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital, the doctor in charge of the emergency department. Faisal Ahmed said that the bodies of the three people who died in the accident have been kept in the morgue. Also, some of the injured have received first aid and three are admitted in critical condition. But they are safe now.
