The Canadian government has issued a new high -level warning for the citizens of their country to travel to Bangladesh. The directive was made in a notification published in the travel department of the country's government website on Thursday (September 7th).

The notice shows 'yellow signal' in Bangladesh traveling, which means that when traveling, citizens should be more careful than usual. However, 'red signal' has been issued as a more stringent arrangement for traveling to the three districts of the country – Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban. This means that travel in those areas is completely forbidden.

According to the Canadian government, the security situation could deteriorate rapidly due to political programs, strike-blockade, protests or sudden conflict in Bangladesh. Such unstable situations may not be found in advance, so there is an additional risk for Canadian citizens.

The security risk of the hill region is clearly mentioned in the notice. There is the risk of political motivated violence, abduction, presence of armed groups and scattered clashes between small ethnic groups. As a result, citizens of Canada have been strictly advised not to go to these areas.

This warning regarding Bangladesh travel is not a new step, but the Canada government reiterated it in the context of the recent political situation, movement and security challenges.
