Canada mission can't find two officials whose contract was canceled – Bangladesh Diplomat

On political considerations, Aparna Rani Pal and Mobashvira Farzana Mithila were appointed as counselors at the Bangladesh High Commission in Canada. The interim government canceled the contracts of both of them and ordered them to return home by August 31. But they stopped communicating with the mission even before receiving the contract cancellation letter on August 14. The matter has been informed by the Bangladesh High Commission in Canada to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Officials of the Ministry of External Affairs told the media that Aparna Rani Pal and Mobashvira Farzana applied for the cancellation of diplomatic passports in their favor before the cancellation of the Mithila Agreement. The foreign ministry issued a letter canceling their diplomatic passports on the day the interim government assumed office.

When asked, Nahida Sobhan, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh appointed to Canada, told Prothom Alo on Sunday evening that Aparna Rani Pal and Mobashvira Farzana Mithila were relieved of their duties after receiving a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the cancellation of their contracts. But even before receiving the letter, they stopped coming to the High Commission and kept no contact with the mission.

As a result, the High Commission has no information about their current location. The matter has already been officially reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.
When asked how the two officials received the contract cancellation letter, Nahida Sobhan said that the letter was sent to both of them by e-mail.

Sheikh Hasina's government fell on August 5 in a student uprising. That same night, Aparna Rani Pal and Mobashvira Farzana Mithila applied for cancellation of diplomatic passports. Aparna Rani Pal herself and Mobashwira Farzana Mithila applied for cancellation of diplomatic passports of herself as well as her husband and son.

The sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs say that after the departure of the Awami League government, they both lobbied for the cancellation of passports as soon as possible. After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus took office on the night of August 8. Aparna Rani Pal and Mobashvira Farzana Mithila and her husband and son were ordered to cancel their diplomatic passports that day before this government took over.

According to the documents, the file was submitted by the Director General (Administration Division) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs DM Salauddin Ahmed for the approval of Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen to cancel the passports in favor of Aparna Rani Pal and Mobashwira Farzana Mithila, her husband Jyoti Zainuddin and son Antar Jishnu. He advised the Consular Section to take action on four cancellations of diplomatic passports after getting the Secretary of State's approval of the file.

Several officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told this reporter that such files are usually raised by the Assistant Secretary or the Senior Assistant Secretary. The rules are broken here in dealing with the utmost confidentiality.

However, even though the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to cancel those four diplomatic passports, it has not been confirmed whether the Directorate of Passports has done so or not.
