The Ministry of Education has decided to cancel the ongoing HSC and other equivalent subject examinations in the face of student protests.
On Tuesday (August 20) afternoon, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education. Abdur Rashid confirmed the matter.
On this day, a meeting was held in the Ministry of Education under the chairmanship of Wahiduddin Mahmud, Education Advisor of the Interim Government. It was decided in the meeting that the examination of HSC and other equivalent subjects of this year will be held in half question and answer format. The re-examination date will be delayed by another two weeks from September 11.
Earlier, the students entered the Ministry of Education after protesting in front of the Ministry of Finance in the afternoon demanding the cancellation of the examination. During this time they said 'We want only one exam – we want to cancel the exam', 'We want only one exam – we want to cancel the exam', 'compromise no struggle-struggle-struggle', 'examination no alternative, alternative-alternative', 'the movement can be stopped with logic' No', 'Challache fight-challe' etc. kept chanting slogans.
The examinees gathered in front of the Ministry of Education at the secretariat from morning. They entered the secretariat at noon to collect their demands.
Later, a delegation of ten members on behalf of the students entered the Ministry of Education to present a memorandum and discuss with the Education Advisor. At that time, Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, assured the protesting students of a peaceful solution to the issue.
